Make sure you gently aerate your habitat regularly with a garden fork or similar.
With Australia currently in the midst of devastating bushfires, our hearts are heavy for our country’s landscape, people and wildlife affected by this tragedy. So this year we’re taking a two-fold approach to our Christmas specials.
We’ve reviewed our fixed price freight costs for metro locations and made some exciting reductions, with some locations reducing over 50%! Just in time for some online Christmas shopping.
Our Worm Habitat for Dogs is designed specifically for processing dog or other animal waste. We recommend having this as a separate habitat to your other organic waste as worms will preferentially choose veggie scraps over dog poo (wouldn’t you?!)
It was business as usual for Worms Downunder this Melbourne Cup day, but we made sure a special member of our team got some extra cuddles and carrots. Rumby is our ex-racehorse rescue and now has his forever home at Worms Downunder HQ.
Aged horse manure is an excellent ‘pick me up’ for your worm habitat. It is the ideal carbon:nitrogen ratio (approx. 20:1) so it’s a good food source for keeping your habitat at the right balance.
Most people put in their leftover food waste (which is majority nitrogen) and forget about carbon. This can cause the habitat to become acidic, damp and anaerobic. All things that your worm friends won’t enjoy!
